Tennis Club Byelaws Update August 2018

Dear Member,

The Tennis Committee is delighted to announce that our new artificial clay courts will open for general play on Tennis Captains Day, Saturday 25th August.

Real and Artificial clay courts require drag and line brushing following play. It is the responsibility of the players to brush the court before they leave the court. This is accepted best practice world wide where clay/hybrid clay courts are in operation. Before you leave the court players MUST use the brushes provided to carry out this activity. This will ensure optimum conditions for all members playing on the artificial clay courts. The Tennis Club byelaws have been amended to reflect this.

It will take some weeks for the courts to settle. The best way to get this to happen is to play on the courts. During this week various groups of members have been asked to start this process in order to get the courts to settle in. The contractor who installed the courts will return in two months time to redress the courts with the removal of excess or infill clay as necessary.

The introduction of artificial clay courts is a significant and very welcome development for Elm Park Tennis Club. We will now be able to enjoy a new tennis experience in the club.

Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday to celebrate Captains Day.
